2nd Grade and the Soda Fountain

Our “OWL”some 2nd graders in Ms. Carter's class are learning about the steps in the Scientific Method. As a class we formed a hypothesis:
"If Mentos are combined with Diet Coke then a diet coke fountain of under 6 feet will be formed".
Using two packs of Mentos and two Diet Cokes our hypothesis was proven CORRECT!

1st Graders are Chicken Farmers?

The 1st graders at GREEN Charter are learning all about chickens. They have studied the chicken life cycle, identified the body parts and functions of the chicken, and read fun books about chickens. One student has already decided that he will be a chicken farmer when he grows up!

We have treats for our chickens!

Watermelon is my favorite!

Brunch is served!

Rise & Shine with our Chicken Crew

Every morning our "Coop Crew" tends to GREEN's Chicken Coop in order to care for our chickens. They feed, change water, collect eggs and play with our hens. Every class in GREEN will have an opportunity to visit with our hens, feed treats and collect eggs, but our Chicken Coop Crew do the "dirty" work every morning preparing our hens for their day with GREEN Charter students!

Density Differences

Our 6th graders designed their own experiments in order to determine which was more dense: a can full of Pepsi or a can full of Diet Pepsi. Each team of students was given a can of each soda, and a bucket filled with water. They had to work collaboratively in order to decide their procedures of their experiment on how to answer the question of "Which is more dense Pepsi or Diet Pepsi?". Once they determined which was more dense the students developed hypotheses on the reasons why,  which led to a debate on artificial sweeteners and high fructose corn syrup.
